Coney Green Mews
For us, research always comes before design. Understanding a site's location, its history and its context before we even begin sketching.
Coney Green Mews is a good example of that approach — a town-centre plot with a complex planning history that we were brought in to look at with fresh eyes.
The result is a mews-style development of eight apartments across two storeys — four paired blocks with shared entrances that keep the street frontage understated. Living spaces face onto a shared courtyard, with bedrooms to the rear, balancing privacy, outlook and community.
Following two successive refusals for larger, taller schemes, our redesigned proposals were commended by the Local Planning Authority for their sensitive approach to scale and massing, with the Conservation Officer praising the quality of the architectural detailing.
Our client now has a commercially viable scheme they can get behind — proof that the right design approach can turn even the most challenging sites into real opportunities.
