High Street

The High Street is a modest rear extension that replaced a tired conservatory with light-filled, flexible living spaces — designed to adapt and grow as life evolves.

The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area flows effortlessly into a home office that has since found a new life as a nursery.

Externally, brickwork and larch cladding frame generous glazed openings that draw natural light deep into the home, concealing a timber frame engineered to minimise steelwork.

One of the practice's earliest projects, High Street remains a honest reflection of the values we bring to every project — thoughtful design that responds to how people actually live.

Recognised as Regional Winner for Best Residential Extension at the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2022, it's a reminder that even the most modest of briefs can deliver something truly special.

We had a good idea of what we wanted but weren't sure how to navigate planning permission and Building Regulations. Matt was really approachable and made the whole process feel easy. He listened to our ideas and helped us create a flexible layout that works for us now and can adapt as our family grows. The design process was fun and collaborative, and we absolutely love the finished extension and its connection to the garden.
